Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, a Philanthropist and Educationist, established the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational & Charitable Trust in 1981. It is a registered, self-supported Trust based in Salem, Tamil Nadu, India.

Chancellor

Dr. A.S. Ganesan is the Chancellor of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University) and is instrumental in the growth of the institution from its humble beginning since 1981 to VMRF DU with over 15,000 students and more than 5000 employees today.

Dr. A.S. Ganesan completed his Medical Degree in 1992 from Madras Medical College and continued his higher education in medical and management at MMC, Chennai and Heidelberg University, Germany.

Since 1995, Dr. A.S. Ganesan has associated himself with the Founder Chairman Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram in establishing and developing medical colleges in Pondichery & Karaikal and an Engineering College in Chennai. He took up end to end responsibility towards establishing and governing the institutions to offer multiple programs in UG and PG.

Dr. A.S. Ganesan was instrumental in growing the campuses into Deemed to be University in 2001 through his administrative ability and vision to achieve the highest levels of distinction in the transmission of knowledge to inspire the youth.

In the year 2013, Dr. A.S. Ganesan was appointed as the Chancellor by the Board of Trustees headed by the Founder Chancellor. He provides strategic guidance and leadership to the Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University) offering undergraduate and post graduate programmes in Medicine, Dentistry, Homeopathy, Pharmacy, Nursing, Paramedical, Engineering, Management and other disciplines.

Under his leadership VMRF-DU contributes to the medical and healthcare needs of the society through its ambit institutions and network of hospitals. It provides sophisticated facilities and expertise and used as referral centers by the neighboring hospitals. VMRF-DU hospitals serve in alleviating the health care problems of the rural community.

His vision and continuous focus is to uplift the economically weaker sections of the society living in rural areas through education, employment, health facilities, social and community development. He is a leader par excellence in higher education, well known for his commitment and advocacy for accessible high quality graduate and post graduate education for rural youth.

Dr. A.S. Ganesan is keen in promoting innovation, multi-disciplinary research, introducing socially relevant programs, skill development, industry affiliations and international collaborations. He received “Edupreneurs Award for Education Excellence” by “Times of India” in 2012 and 2014.

He is also the President for Aayira Vysiar community which consists of approximately 4 million people across the globe and he supports health care programs, educational scholarship, youth welfare, women empowerment, green initiatives and community transformation.

Dr. A.S. Ganesan continues the philanthropic activities started by the Founder Chairman Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram including management of the magnificent “1008 Shivalaya Temples” in Salem which is also a part of the “Incredible India“ promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and a landmark in the state of Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, several temples, community halls, buildings and lands have been donated for several charitable activities in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Dr. A.S. Ganesan is married to Dr. Anuradha and is blessed with a daughter and a son.

Vice President of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Director of Ganesan incubation Entrepreneurship center (GIEC) a section 8 not for profit company under companies Act 2013, Proactive Entrepreneur, Social activist and Philanthropist.

Mr. J. Suresh Samuel

Member, Board of Management

Mr. Suresh Samuel graduated from the Government College of Engineering, Salem, and pursued Business Administration and Strategic Management programs with LIBA, Chennai, and Cornell University, USA respectively. He spent the initial decade of his career with leading multinational companies like Raptakos, Brett & Co. Ltd., PepsiCo India and Britannia Industries Limited specializing in Operations and Quality Management Systems.

He switched to the IT industry in 2000 to manage Quality Management Systems and subsequently spearheaded Software Testing Practices in HCL Technologies. He also worked for iSOFT, Covansys, Computer Sciences Corporation (presently DXC Technologies), Encore Technologies, and UST Technologies in global roles such as General Manager, Vice President and Senior Vice President and has managed IT Services businesses in the USA, UK, Europe and the Asia Pacific.

Mr. Samuel has more than 31 years of industry experience in Pharmaceutical and FMCG, and as a Business Leader in IT Services, providing Testing Services to Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Health Care Providers & Payers, Life Sciences, Automotive, Discrete Manufacturing, Technology, and Product companies.

He co-founded Healthsana and is a Partner at SEMM Consulting specializing in Business Transformation. He is also a Member of the Board of Management with Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation.

Prof.Dr. P.K. Sudhir

Vice Chancellor

Prof.Dr.P.K. Sudhir, BHMS, MD, is the Vice Chancellor of Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation Deemed University, Salem, Tamil Nadu. He took charge of the office on 6th September, 2018. He is the first Homoepath to be appointed as the Vice Chancellor of a University.

Formerly he served as Controller of Examinations, Kerala University of Health Sciences, Kerala. He is the first Homoeopath to be appointed as COE.

He was born on 10th February, 1964 in Calicut, Kerala and completed his BHMS and MD Homoeopathy from Government Homoeopathy Medical College. Calicut. He was the first MD Homoeopathy degree holder in India.

After completing his education he served at Fr. Muller’s Homoeopathic Medical College Mangalore since 1990 in various positions which includes Tutor, Asst.Professor and Reader.

Dr. Debdulal Thakur

Professor and Founding Dean

Dr. Debdulal Thakur is a distinguished public economist with a notable background as a life member of “The Indian Econometric Society” (TIES). With a career spanning 19 years, he possesses expertise in the areas of fiscal policy, budgets, urban finance, and economics of education. He has made significant contributions to these fields through extensive research and practical applications.

During his career, he has been actively involved in co-authoring project-based reports funded by esteemed institutions such as the World Bank, UNDP, UNICEF, ADB, and DFID. These reports have primarily focused on budgets and public expenditure, with a particular emphasis on enhancing the fiscal and governance capabilities of urban local bodies in India.
His academic pursuits have included positions as a regular faculty member at renowned institutions, namely NIPFP, BITS-Pilani, and Symbiosis. Prior to joining VMLS, he was a Senior Research Fellow with LEAD and also served as a visiting faculty member at the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) within Krea University.

Through his extensive experience, research contributions, and academic engagements, he has established himself as a respected authority in the realm of public economics. His work has significantly contributed to the understanding and advancement of fiscal policies, budgets, and the effective management of public resources.
