Our Esteemed Faculty

Mr. K. L. Rao has joined Vinayaka Mission’s School of Economics and Public Policy (VSEP) as a Professor of Practice, bringing over three decades of extensive experience in social policy, public financial management, and institutional capacity building across various national and international organizations.

Mr. Rao holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Hyderabad and has enriched his expertise through diverse roles in government, academia, and consulting. Most recently, he served as the Chief of Social Policy at UNICEF, Chennai, leading strategic initiatives in public finance for children, social protection, and decentralized governance. His work focused on improving public policy outcomes and achieving sustainable development goals, with a financial allocation of over $12 million during his tenure.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Rao has held leadership positions at globally renowned organizations such as Ernst & Young, Deloitte, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has also contributed to education as a faculty member at ICFAI Business School and Army School, imparting his knowledge to future leaders. His assignments span multiple countries, including Bhutan, Nepal, Ghana, and Bangladesh, where he has led critical public policy reforms, budget planning, and program management initiatives.

With an impressive portfolio of published research in fiscal policy and education, Mr. Rao continues to influence policymaking and research at VSEP. His expertise will significantly enhance the institution’s academic and research endeavors in economics and public policy.
